Electronics for Students of Mechanical Engineering (1965) by H. Sutcliffe – Longmans
From Crappy Old Books – proudly stocking yesterday’s tech, today.
Back when transistors were cutting-edge and “digital” still meant fingers, H. Sutcliffe’s Electronics for Students of Mechanical Engineering bridged the baffling gap between resistors and rivets. Published in 1965, this no-nonsense textbook was aimed squarely at mechanical engineering students who just wanted to pass their electronics module without electrocuting themselves.
Expect hand-drawn circuit diagrams, explanations that predate microprocessors, and an unwavering belief in the eternal supremacy of the slide rule. Our copy? Slightly warped by time, possibly annotated by a stressed-out undergrad in 1972, and smelling faintly of WD-40 and despair.
Crappy Old Books – Because progress is overrated, and old textbooks never die — they just get mustier.
Good all round condition although the plastics coating on the cover has peeled in places with age.
